A quarter century of reliability improvements – ReliabilityOne®

Recognizing outstanding reliability in US utilities

This year we celebrate 25 years of the ReliabilityOne® program. We have worked with industry leaders to define reliability and resiliency and identify improvement strategies for both. The ReliabilityOne® program is a unique forum for utility leaders to openly share best practices and methods to overcome challenges allowing for real change in their organizations.

As regulations, market conditions, and customer expectations continue to change, the need for utilities to balance performance improvements and investments in the right areas becomes critical. ReliabilityOne® program members have come together to share best practices and push boundaries to innovate and help each other improve.

ReliabilityOne® 2025 Awards and Innovation Workshop

Our annual awards are presented to electric utilities providing their customers with the highest levels of reliability in the industry. ReliabilityOne® has helped participants lead the industry for reliability improvement best practices, while keeping affordability front and center of what they do.

In the past decade, our ReliabilityOne® Award recipients on average have demonstrated sustained year-over-year reductions in outage frequencies and outage durations. During the same timeframe, the average US utility has seen slight improvements in outage frequency but has seen an increase in outage durations. For a given outage event in 2023, the average ReliabilityOne® Award recipient is able to restore outages 30 minutes faster than the average US utility. The ReliabilityOne® Awards ceremony and workshops offer access to this extensive knowledge base and community to help the program and industry improve.

The awards program recognizes top performers and best practices that promote innovation and technology advancement, deliver top reliability and resiliency performance, balance overall costs, and deliver the greatest value to their customers. We celebrate utilities that are the best in the industry, the efforts of their people, and the value brought to customers. Participants benefit from widespread recognition visible to numerous stakeholders, customers, employees, shareholders, community and government agencies, and regulators.

The awards program is followed by an innovation workshop where all members hear from top performing utilities and discuss best practices that have delivered award winning performance. The workshop is a unique opportunity to share best practices, ideate on the latest industry trends, and form meaningful peer connections in a very collegial and engaging forum.
